Cover girl

It's not that I've been blogging a super-long time (I'm just shy of my 3 year anniversary), but it's nice to know that it's been long enough that my children think nothing of coming home from Sunday in the Park with Daddy-o to find Mama all Amy Winehoused out, replete with winged eyeliner and a tube top over my pajamas.

I made a version of the Vogue Knitting Fall 2007 cover scarf (and let me be totally clear that I did not make the one that is on the cover) for the June TNNA show.  Unfortunately, the pattern was in the preliminary stages when I received it, so the knitting and sewing (well, Lauren, even though she is a quitter, did a lot of the first round finishing) was not altogether complete or correct.

So I took the whole thing apart (along with Amazy, who gave me the courage to cut some threads), knit a little more and finished this weekend.  Although this scarf has taken a journey across the country and back (and will now be sent to the left coast), I'm really happy with the end result.  I would definitely make this as a stunning piece for a formal event with a strapless dress and simple hair (as I type that, I'm trying to conceive of what said event would be- inappropriately dressed Mother of the Bride?  Renunciation of Cheney's citizenship?), and I would love to see it in Silken Straw.

Even though my blog has been decidedly easy-listening as of late, I do feel like a rockstar in this scarf (can't you see it draped over my Wiggles microphone stand?), so it's only fair to mention (and be completely embarrassed by my unworthiness) that both Sam and Stefanie  nominated me as a

(you can read about the genesis of the tag here)!!!  I feel like I should pass this on to pretty much everyone I read, but I will single out Stephanie, as she lives my dream life and I'm hoping to electronically osmose her cooking abilities, Elspeth, because of her glorious FO shots and I secretly want to live in her pocket so that I can live at Knit Happens with Holly, Paloma, since she's a famous photog and all, and old faves Zenifer, Maryse and Xtina (X, you owe me a meme, bitch).

When I saw that scarf in VK, I thought, "Wow. You'd have to be a crazy person to make all those flowers and then sew them together!" Hopefully they've cleaned up the pattern some since you made it the first time, but even then I think I'd have to be making a sample to persevere!!

That was one of the two cover patterns I thought would be really cool to make. Looks divine on you! And I know what you mean about living in Elspeth's pocket. I live in the same town, and I still don't get to go to Knit Happens enough.
