Even though I feel like I've cast off on two major projects and have my WIP pile under a semblance of control, I feel that I'm at a crossroads. What am I supposed to do next? There is so much goodness out there, and I feel like my knitting has been so damn slow as of late.
I am hoping to get my Hopeful and Hallowig (yet to be cast on, but soon- everything is at the ready completed last night) done before RFTC, which is October 2, which is a mere three weeks away. Not worried about the knitting as much as I am worried about my food baby belly crossing the finish line. [Also, a quick note- if you sent in a donation, THANK YOU THANK YOU and please e-mail me your snail mail address.]
There is the issue of Rogue, which I haven't picked up in a month, easy, and I do want to finish it, but just haven't been motivated for whatever reason. And the Pinwheel blanket I'm making for Mr. Pink's best friend's new baby, arriving around Christmastime.
My biggest drive is Lucky Clover. Did you see Tara's? Damn. So hot. My kind of Taradise. And I'm not just saying that because I bought the exact same yarn to make it months (actually, close to a year now) ago. [Also, did you see Moni's? Super hot.] Since I just have the seaming left on my one pink cotton project, I feel like I need to gear this one up.
Also crazy lust for Butterfly. Sarah's is amazing, and I want to make the tank version, but two tone, with Wicked for the body and a stash mohair (seen in this sweater) for the edging. I heart mohair.
Joined the Spork knitalong, and even got some yarn to make it. Main color aubergine, with stripes of lotus pink and orchid pink. Guess that means I should knit it, eh?
Other dreams are the Ene's Scarf that I cast on for weeks ago, but haven't touched, London Calling sweater, which is halfway done on the front and needs one sleeve, the beaded boatneck sweater from the DB Cathay book, which I'm pondering hosting a yarn-along for, Wings, Mariah, Cable Jacket with Hood from Debbie Bliss 4, Flower Basket bag and several scarves.
Let's neglect to mention the 5 pounds (no lie) of yarn that I ordered to make an afghan for my house, shall we?
I'm thinking that there will be minimal Christmas knitting here, with a few caveats. One, I'm stingy (and not ashamed to say it) with my gift knitting. Two, certain family members are either allergic to any sheep product (Mama/Grandma Pink) or have requested sweaters that could test the sanity of someone far more stable than myself (a K1P1 raglan for Mr. Pink- I actually started to consider if knitting the entire thing and then dropping the p sts down would be a more efficient use of my time). There are a couple (and by that, I do mean 2) friends that I owe knitting to, and other than that, I don't think I'll be doing the December 25 push.
Lest us not forget those swatches that I sent in. I knit 17, submitted that same number of design ideas to everyone's favorite yarn company, and hope to hear within the next millenia if they liked any of them. I have no idea if any of that will come to fruition, but the point for me was that I did it, I put my ideas out into the world, as opposed to just letting them flounder as frustrated yarn in my stash, which has been the fate of all other projects thus far.
Not too many (yarn) balls in the air, do you think?
I love all your project ideas, especially spork! I myself have never done copious holiday knitting before, but I may do this year. However, only small projects! No sweaters for anyone but me or the occasional friend's baby right now.

I saw your Hallowig at "sheep in the city." You'll be such a cute jogger! (no baby stomach a'tall.)
You are a very busy lady. Very busy. Although I guess I have about that many projects I'd like to do too...

Man, that Spork is like so Timbuk2. Do ya think it will hold a laptop?

hmm--between me and you, honey: Lucky is a bitch. I started the knitalong, and then I frogged the damn thing, and have no desire to restart her. The girls that have gone on to finish are very tenacious knitters indeed and deserve a lot of praise. I know you could do it... but I am just warning you!
I hope that the LB stuff comes through--they definitely need some stylish designs that you can offer!

It is just not fair that you have things on your to-knit list that you cross off in one night. And that you have yarn basically named after you.

You have lots of projects that you want to get done there. But I feel the same way. I want to work on several more things for myself, but I have another old WIP that I want to finish up (a cardigan) as well as redo Donna's sleeves and knit for babies. I guess I need to get to it, as well as work on the test knitting cardigan, just to finish it.
But now I see Spork and want to do it. I signed up for the KAL. I really want a messenger bag and that's cool. Do you think I could do it with NOro Kureyon? I'm thinking of doing a variegated color for the "body" and solid color side panels.

Lucky clover..ahh...A bitch and a half to knit, but worth it. It's a really pretty sweater. I also love butterfly! It would look really cute on you.

ok, i'm not saying that raising kids isn't a full time job, but can i just say that for 12 hours a friggin' day that i'm at my stupid ass job i could be friggin' knitting. i don't have a project list because it would look like my work to do list which would just depress me.
i like the spork. i'd join the knitalong myself if i could commit to such a thing.

It's so fun to look at all the patterns people are considering. I always manage to find a couple I've never heard of. After I finish my sock pal's socks I'm soo doing some me knitting. Can't wait to see what you pick :)

I'm so there with Spork, the Beaded Boatneck (go start a knitalong for it!), and the Cabled Jacket (I've really been coveting it lately) ... Love the Cathi Yarn as well :) ... and we had a great time today! I forgot to tell you that in France they call MacDonald's "Chez MacDo" (Say "do" like in donut). I just think it's goofy.

Ahh...so the mystery of the snail mail addy request is over :)
I've been meaning to ask you: how do you find the time to knit?! You have kids, my dear! I have work and school...i imagine those require the same, if not less, time...and I have a hard time finding time to knit these days.

that's a lot of plans you've got going on there girl.

Last year was my first and last attempt to participate in Christmas knitting frenzy. I stuck to small items for my kids, but I was still knitting right up to the last minute. The only reason I did it at all was to augment the meager offerings under the tree. My guess is that the kids won't even be able to find the items I made when cold weather hits.

I think I'll end up Christmas knitting for a total of three, MAYBE four people. One of them being my mother.
I'm very stingey with my knitting. Everyone else gets store bought gifts.
However, I'm determined to pick up jewelry making so I can make a couple things for my knitting buddies.

Wow, you're busy! I can't wait to see what happens with your designs.
Christmas knitting is overrated. Every year I try to do it and every year almost everyone just says it's "nice." I'll give you nice, $&#%@! This year I'm knitting for John (I can make him wear it), Christian (I can make him wear it, too) and my mom (who's all crafty and appreciates it).
